How often is it that we publish something in a fit of, “I’m done with this,”
And it really isn’t that polished…
I recently went over a draft several times, probably like nine times.
Right after it was published, I saw so many more edits.
Point being, maybe instead of about nine times, I should have gone over it 19 times…
While the average reader won’t notice these mistakes, an editor will.
Errors I saw, and these were the common ones;
1. Numbers under 10 were left numbers instead of written out, example I put “3” instead of “three.” Official rules, when writing a number under ten, you spell it out.
2. Put in too many unnecessary details. Thought I’d edited them all out.
3. When I sent it via email, it’s formatting changed. Should have sent in an attachment maybe-to prevent this?
4. Even after all the nine times I’d edited it, there was still an extra “the” somewhere that didn’t belong…
