The Gentle God

The Gentle God

The gentle God stands off in the distance
Awaiting my arrival
That thing the world calls death.
He coaxes and cajoles, he calls and cares,
For me to begin the great journey

I make the call. I make the choice.

My eternity will show
If I’ve chosen a route of truth
And He who is truth,
Or I can spend it in a spill of black lies and deceit
In the pain of having rejected good and mercy

And knowing myself to be a fool…
